65 వ బ్రిటీష్ ఫిల్మ్ అకాడమీ అవార్డు (బాఫ్టా) ల వివరాలు
On 12th Feb 2012 saw sixty-fifth annual British Academy Film awards, the BAFTA’s, held in London.
The awards, shown in February as a warm up to the Oscars, saw stars from stage and screen come together for a spectacular evening of glitz and glamour.
The Artist topped the ‘most won’ list, taking home six awards, including best film and best director. The Silent movie blockbuster also scooped best actor for its star Jean Dujardin, who beat British favourite Gary Oldman.
Best Actress was awarded to Meryl Streep for her mesmerizing portrayal of former British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher in the award-winning Iron Lady, her second award for leading lady from the academy, her first being for her role in The French Lieutenant’s Woman, which she won over thirty years ago.
John Hurt received a special tribute being awarded the Outstanding Contribution to British cinema award, and there were, surprisingly, no awards won by Scottish director Lynne Ramsay, who was nominated for best Director for We Need to Talk About Kevin, but beaten in the category by runaway winners of the night, The Artist.

లండన్ లో 12 జనవరి 2012 న జరిగిన ‘65 వ బ్రిటీష్ ఫిల్మ్ అకాడమీ అవార్డు (బాఫ్టా)’ అవార్డుల కార్యక్రమంలో ఫ్రెంచ్ రొమాంటిక్ సినిమా ‘ది ఆర్టిస్ట్’ ఉత్తమ చిత్రం కింద ‘గోల్డ్ బాఫ్టా’ సహా మొత్తం ఏడు అవార్డులను దక్కించుకుంది. హాలీవుడ్ మూకీ చిత్రాలకు గుర్తుగా బ్లాక్ అండ్ వైట్ లో రూపొందించిన ‘ఆర్టిస్ట్’ సినిమా నుండి చిత్ర నటుడు దీన్ దిజార్దిన్ కు ఉత్తమ నటుడు, నిర్మాత థామస్ లాంగ్ మాన్, దర్శకులు మైకేల్ హజనవిసిస్ కు ఉత్తమ దర్శకుడుకి అవార్డు లభించింది.
అమెరికా నటి మెరిల్ స్ట్రీప్ కు ‘ది ఐరన్ లేడీ’లో నటనకు గానూ బాఫ్టా ఉత్తమ నటి అవార్డు లభించింది. ఆమె ఆ చిత్రంలో బ్రిటన్ మాజీ ప్రధాని మార్గరేట్ థాచర్ పాత్ర పోషించారు. ‘ద హెల్ప్’ చిత్ర నటి ఆక్టేవియా స్పెన్సర్ కు ఉత్తమ సహాయ నటి ’బిగినర్స్’ నటుడు క్రిస్టఫర్ ప్లమర్ కు ఉత్తమ సహాయ నటుడు అవార్డులు లభించాయి. బాలీవుడ్ నటుడు అనిల్ కపూర్ ఓ అవార్డును అందజేశారు.
